Walk for the Nile
On Friday, May 20, 2011 Hayah International Academy will be hosting a walk-a-thon for the Nile River. Enjoy a fun outdoor afternoon and evening from 5 to 9 with your family for a good cause.
You can walk, sponsor an athlete or just show up with your children to enjoy fun activities, good food and learn about the Nile river. At the door you will pay a ticket fee of 30 le for adults and 20 le for children which will go towards the fundraising.
Either way you will be contributing to projects by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation which help in cleaning the River in underdeveloped areas in Egypt.
The Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources, His Excellency Dr. Hussien El Atfy will be attending the event as well as ambassadors from the different countries along the Nile.
The aim is for the attendees to collectively walk 6,648 KM, which is the length of the river from Lake Victoria to the Mediterranean Sea. For every lap you walk, get someone to sponsor you. The more laps you walk the more your sponsor will pay and the money will go to the projects.
Booths and stations will be placed around the track to create awareness on the Nile river and benefits of saving water and keeping it clean.
A food court, bazar and kids corner will make this multiactivity event one for the whole family.
The event will also include a unique live musical performance by "Led Zabaleen," students from Hayah International Academy. The artist Elhamy Naguib will design a mural which you will paint. At the end of the day the mural will be auctioned off.You can also get an original piece of writing, written on the spot by Grade 10 writing students on the topic of your choice. Proceeds to all these events will go to projects on the Nile.
The event is open to everyone and tickets will be sold at the gate.
Ticket revenue will go towards the funding of the projects.
